A seminar on “Semiconductor Devices: Evolution and Future Trends” was held on 31 December 2009 at CSE seminar room, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). This seminar was organised by IEEE RUET student branch. Professor Sirajul Karim Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of RUET inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest. Professor Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan, branch counselor of IEEE RUET student branch, Professor Md. Asharaful Alam, Director of Student Welfare of RUET, Md. Delwar Hossain, Head of the Dept. of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, along with a few teachers and students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Dept. International GIS Day Celebrated at JU

The Department of Geography and Environment, Jahangirnagar University (JU) joined together with 80 countries around the world to celebrate the International Geographic Information System (GIS) Day on November 18. Globally GIS is held each year in the third week of November on the Wednesday during Geography Awareness Week. The Department of Geography and Environment brought out a colourful rally and a discussion highlighting the importance of this international event. Teachers and students from JU donned GIS Day T-shirts and rallied through the campus. The rally ended amid festivity with the cutting of a GIS Day cake.

ULAB Book Fair

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised a daylong Book Fair at its Dhanmondi Campus. Around 16 different publishers and organisation participated at the fair.

Renowned educationalist and former Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Zillur Rahman Siddique was the chief guest at the book fair. ULAB’s VC Professor Rafiqul Islam and Professor Mohit-ul Alam, Head, Department Of English, ULAB also spoke on the occasion. Among others, Professor Abdul Mannan, Business Administration, ULAB Registrar, Khaled Khan and other senior faculty-members were present at the occasion.

The inaugural session was conducted by Anis Pervez , Associate professor, Department of Media Studies and Journalism, ULAB and Coordinator, Library Affairs.

MBM students celebrate course ending day

On 24 December 2009, Masters of Bank Management (MBM) 12th batch students of BIBM (Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management) celebrated their ‘Course Ending Day’. A day long programme was held on BIBM campus with the participation of director general of BIBM, directors from different departments, teachers, officials and students attended the colourful programme.

The programme was inaugurated by cutting a cake followed by different sessions like tree plantation, fun games and films show.
