FBCCI hosts iftar party today

Dhaka, Sept 3 (UNB) – Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex trade body of the country, hosted an iftar party at Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Friday.

FBCCI President AK Azad spoke at the iftar party, welcoming the guests.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Commerce Minister Faruk Khan, Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman, Rehman Sobhan, Awami League leader Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Rashed Khan Menon MP, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and chairmen of parliamentary standing committees joined the iftar party.

Constitution to be amended to reinforce democracy: PM



Parliamentary special committee, headed by Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, is expected to recommend amendments to the Constitution in a way that would strengthen further democracy in the country, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday, reports UNB.

She was talking to a delegation of Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB), led by its president Mahbubul Alam, that called on the PM at her office.

The Prime Minister said the country would run by constitutional government. People of the republic are the supreme authority to choose who will run the government.

PM attends iftar hosted by Armed Forces at Senakunja

Dhaka, Aug 28 (UNB) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (Saturday) attended an iftar hosted by the Armed Forces at Senakunja in the Dhaka cantonment.

A special munajat was offered before breaking the fast, seeking divine blessings for the country and world humanity as well as for the salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibibur Rahman and his family members.

Earlier, on her arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of Army Staff General M Abdul Mubeen, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral ZU Ahmed, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Maj Gen Abdul Wadud.
