Mutual funds share cake in stock boom

The mutual funds (MFs) listed in two bourses marked a record rise in the just-concluded year as fund managers sought to capitalise on the stock market boom.
Officials said the number of listed mutual funds, regarded as the safest investment tool, hit 11, the highest in a single year. Currently a total of 31 funds are being traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s prime bourse.
The funds, which were listed in 2010, include IFIC Bank 1st mutual fund, Phoenix Finance 1st mutual fund, ICB AMCL 3rd NRB MF, First Janata Bank MF, Green Delta MF, Popular Life First MF, Prime 1st MF, IFIL Islamic MF-1, PHP First MF, DBH First MF, and Green Delta MF.
60 MFs awaiting SEC nod to go public

A total of 60 mutual funds with an aggregate size of about Tk 60 billion are awaiting the regulator’s approval to go public, officials said.
An official of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said, “The size of the individual MFs ranges between Tk 500 million to Tk 5.0 billion.
Among the MFs awaiting the SEC nod, fourteen have got their registrations and after completing the subscriptions the funds will be listed on the bourses.
