Use of ICT adds new dimension to NCC polls campaign
NARAYANGANJ: Use of modern technology has added a new dimension to the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election campaign as both mayoral and councillor candidates opened websites and fan pages in facebook and twitter to attract voters
Alongside traditional systems, the candidates widely used Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to persuade electors, particularly the youth, to vote for them in the NCC polls to be held today
Will you go for the new iPhone?
I have an iPhone 3GS, simply love it and bought it a year and a half back. Soon after that Apple released the iPhone 4, but I didn’t upgrade simply because it was a slight improved version of its predecessor and thought would go for the next one.
So, there I was, eagerly waiting for the new version to come out. Like me many others were doing the same, and October 4 was that day, the day Apple announced that they would be launching a new iPhone at an event called ‘Let’s talk iPhone’. Everyone was expecting to see a new phone that they would buy and their expectation was natural.
Footballer sparks Twitter storm
London, May 22 (bdnews24.com)–Hundreds of Twitter users have reacted to a footballer’s bid to find out who is putting information about him on the website by posting new messages online.
The player, who an injunction says can only be identified as CTB, is taking action against ex-Big Brother star Imogen Thomas and the Sun newspaper.
He has now obtained a High Court order asking Twitter to reveal details of users who had revealed his identity.
Twitter has not commented but hundreds of users have repeated his name online, according to BBC News.

J’ai constaté qu’une grande partie des entreprises présentes et donc, les intervenants étaient encore obsédés par l’e-mailing, alors que pour moi il est mort. De nombreuses études démontrent que le taux d’ouverture recule constamment. L’autre moitié des participants au salon se concentraient sur le marketing mobile. Bien évidemment, c’est un grand chantier.

Microsoft ont détecté les meilleurs experts sur les médias sociaux afin de les faire parler lors de l’événement.
72% du buzz pré-événemental a été réalisé par le réseau communautaire de Microsoft. Un réseau qui a réuni 1000 followers Twitter ; 230 membres Viadéo ; 190 membres sur LinkedIn.

Bangladesh dog lovers protest brutal culling

DHAKA (AFP) – Scores of dog lovers shouting “Don’t kill, sterilise” marched through Dhaka on Saturday to protest Bangladesh’s brutal canine culling, which involves breaking the animals’ necks.
Carrying banners with slogans, the protesters linked hands in front of the Dhaka City Corporation, the main government agency responsible for culling thousands of dogs every year.
Organisers, who arranged the protest using media such as Facebook and Twitter, said they believed it was the first time a public protest against the killing had been held in Bangladesh.

National security advisor Tom Donilon told Pakistani envoy Hussain Haqqani that the Obama administration will "kick him out of the US", close consulates in Pakistan and cancel President Asif Ali Zardari's upcoming visit to Washington if US official Raymond Davis is not released by Friday, ABC News channel quoted two unnamed Pakistani officials as saying. Donilon reportedly conveyed the warning to Haqqani on Monday evening.
The "outlines of the threat" were also confirmed to ABC News by a senior US official who was not authorized to speak on the record. White House spokesperson Tommy Vietor declined comment.

Obviously that a big claim. And one they’re going to struggle to live up to.
In fact when I searched for gifts for myself the suggestions were worse than the stuff my parents put in my stocking.
Still a fun idea though. Just don’t set your expectations too high.

Leonardo Named Inter Coach
Last season’s AC Milan coach Leonardo was named manager of city rivals Inter Milan on Friday in a move which has stunned the soccer world despite the Italian game’s celebrated eccentricities.
The Brazilian succeeds Rafael Benitez, who left the world, European and Italian champions on Thursday after just six months in charge following a poor domestic spell and his public attack on Inter for not investing in new players.
“Welcome, Leonardo is the coach of Inter,” a statement said on Inter’s website (www.inter.it) just hours after president Massimo Moratti had said there would be no announcement until December 27 at the earliest.
WikiLeaks Out For Hours After US Firm Pulls Plug
An American company that had been directing traffic to the WikiLeaks website withdrew its services late on Thursday, making the site invisible for several hours.
EveryDNS.net, which helps computers locate the sites of its members, said WikiLeaks had breached its terms of service, and that it had stopped providing services to the controversial publisher of leaked information at 2200 Eastern time on Thursday (0300 GMT on Friday).
However, WikiLeaks announced on Friday on Twitter that it could be seen using a new address, wikileaks.ch , which is operated by a Swiss academic network.
Meme of the Week: The dueling Gap logos
The new Gap logo is not getting much love from the design community. As Advertising Age says: “Detractors have been picking apart the new look, with the most common sentiment being that it looks like something a child created using a clip-art gallery.”

Lindsay Lohan Faces Arrest Warrant
Lohan has been ordered to appear Friday morning before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elden Fox, ABC News was told. She will not be taken into custody before then, though she could face additional jail time — 30 days or more — for flunking the court-ordered test.
