In the history of art, Europe was always at the forefront. What the Greek artists started five hundred years BC, marking a new era in the field of arts, has continued on till the period of Pablo Picasso of the recently ended nineteenth century. After this long period of classical art, suddenly a silent revolution emerged led by Paul Cezanne (1839-1906), Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) and Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890), the leading artists in whose hands modern art began.
