The fact that few, if any other sport, can parallel the harmony that football breeds,
the fervour it generates alongside its power to unite, is universally accepted. As most would happily testify, its impact – although having waned to an extent – is not lost on Bangladeshis, with the country boasting quite a proud football-ing heritage. Nonetheless, currently, it seems that the collective imagination is more tightly gripped by the thrills and spills of European league football rather than what goes on in our very localities and it is not hard to see why.
